Hi, I’m Marloes Valentina Stella (or Loesy Valentina, if you will) and I love to write. What’s more, I do it for a living!

The Council of the Lost is where I frequently drop my latest gaming adventures, geeky insights, or edgy outbursts. About

Although I started post-university life as a political scientist & international relations expert, I’ve now fully embraced the fact that blue hair, elf ears, 1000+ hours in Skyrim and embassies don’t go together. Luckily, I was able to combine my writing skills with my knowledge of World of Warcraft lore to create articles like this one.

So, long story short: after overcoming my fear of ending up broke & homeless forever, I now pay the bills writing about orcs & stuff. Besides this website, you can find my writing on GamesRadar+, Fanbyte, Polygon, PCGamesN, Beyond Games, PCGamer, and Esports Insider. I also write for the Dutch national newspaper ‘Algemeen Dagblad‘.

The Council of the Lost is where my work as a video game journalist began. I started this website as a hobby while I was in university. Somehow it evolved into a profession. Which is awesome, but it also led to me being stuck with a rather unusual name for my journalism/writing business 😉
